Hello! We have been Liddell and Crook Ltd for a year now. How time flies.
It’s nearly the end of another financial year! Remember that we send you your checklists at the end of March and will need them completed as much as possible, your records attached, and the checklist signed before we can start your 2020 accounts and tax returns. You can view our 2020 Checklists online here.
As well as updating and freshening up our website we also have a Facebook page that you can follow to keep up to date with changes to tax laws and other helpful information.
Inland Revenue has also updated their website and there is now a lot more you can do on the website once you log into your MyIR, including paying your taxes directly from within MyIR.
We are now banking with BNZ, so please make payments to the bank account number on the invoice 02-1268-0015654-000.
Cheque Deadline 1 March 2020
From 1 March 2020 Inland Revenue and ACC will not accept cheques.
People will still be able to pay both organisations with cash or Eftpos at Westpac banks, but not at ACC or Inland Revenue branches. To pay taxes at Westpac you will need a payment slip with a Bar Code on it.
Instructions on how to print a bar code are below, or we can do that for you. You can also talk to your own bank about the best way to pay taxes if you don’t have internet banking.
Making payments at Westpac using a barcode
Go to the IRD Website barcode page and enter your IRD number, the amount you are paying, the tax type such as Income and the tax period. Then print out the barcode generated and take this with you to the bank.
Anti-Money Laundering – Identity Verification
New legislation for the new Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 2009 came into effect on October 1. This means we’ll be formally gathering information to verify your identity and address.
Next time you’re heading to our office, bring your passport or drivers licence and proof of address (not more than 3 months old) such as a utility bill or bank statement.
ACC invoicing policy change
ACC has changed their invoicing policy. You may notice that they have stopped invoicing ahead, and now only invoice once your income tax returns have been filed for the year.
Xero Training
We offer Xero training in our office, for $150 per hour for one on one training or $50 to attend one of our regular group Xero training sessions.
Xero Fees Increase 18 March 2020
Xero Subscription Fees for the full accounting packages will be increasing from the 18 March 2020. The increase is $2.00/month plus GST.
